- Unit
- CPU socket on a protected hypervisor host
- Aliases
- CPU Sockets on Hypervisor Hosts; per socket
- Definition
- License Program Guide: "In Commvault terms, this is any logical socket as identified by a supported hypervisor." Where sockets cannot be derived from the hypervisor layer, per-VM or operating instance licensing must be used.
- Counting rules
- The documentation counts all CPU sockets on physical hosts protected with the Virtual Server Agent, based on the last successful full or synthetic full backup of a VM on that host. Socket and per-VM licensing cannot coexist in one CommCell or licensing server; OI licences cannot cover a socket overage.
- Floors / minimums
- None stated. Per-socket virtual licensing was sold with Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery for Virtual Environments (end of sale for new customers after September 2020).
