- Universal Subscription licenses give the ability to be licensed and supported on traditional on-premises Citrix software and Citrix Cloud services at the same time. Users or devices covered by a Citrix Universal license subscription may use both their on-premises term licenses and their Citrix Cloud subscription licenses at the same time. Universal does not require completing transition to cloud by term end; hybrid capacity may operate throughout the subscription. Under Transition / Trade-Up / TTU, on-premises licenses subject to the transaction are rescinded upon purchase and replaced with term-based on-premises licenses corresponding to the product, edition, and license model of the cloud or Universal destination. Pre-Universal “Hybrid Rights” renewals were the predecessor term-based on-prem add-on; this rule seeds the live Universal hybrid use-right, not a separate Hybrid Rights program.
