- Product Terms For all Software, Outsourcing Software Management: Customers with subscription licenses or licenses with active Software Assurance may use licensed copies of the software on devices, including shared servers, that are under the day-to-day management and control of Authorized Outsourcers. Distinct from Azure Hybrid Benefit (customer’s own Azure account) and from License Mobility through Software Assurance (Azure Services or License Mobility Partner plus verification form; not Windows Server OS).

- The same Universal License Terms clause also names Outsourcing on Dedicated Devices (devices remain fully dedicated to Customer’s use) and Outsourcing on Cloud Solution Provider-Hosters. Except as expressly permitted in Product Terms, Customer is not permitted to use or access software on devices under the management or control of a third party. Customer is responsible for all obligations under its volume licensing agreement regardless of the physical location of the hardware. Educational guidance (not contractual): introduced October 2022; an Authorized Outsourcer is not a Listed Provider; the benefit applies to software generally including Windows Server; no License Mobility Form. Counting remains the product’s on-prem terms (guidance example: SQL Per Core by virtual machine still a minimum of four licenses per virtual machine).
