- Definition
- Named User means any individual authorized by Customer to Use a Package, including without limitation employees of its Affiliates or its Business Partners. Named User License means the Metric and Licensed Level applicable to each Named User. Metric, when referenced in the context of a Named User, means the individual Named User category and type (and corresponding Named User definition setting for such Named User's Use rights). Except as otherwise specifically provided in Sections 3.2, 5.3 and 7 the Use of any Package requires both a Named User License and a Package License. Named User Licenses cannot be assigned to more than 1 individual. (SAP Software Use Rights enGLOBAL.v.4-2026 §§1.3(a), 1.4, 1.5, 2.1.1.)
- Counting rules
- One Named User License assigned to one individual of a given type; Named User Licenses cannot be assigned to more than 1 individual (SUR §2.1.1). Except as otherwise specifically provided in §§3.2, 5.3 and 7, Use of any Package requires both a Named User License and a Package License; the Named User type defines the extent of Use. Use includes access via an interface delivered with or as part of the Software, a Customer or third-party interface, or another intermediary system (§1.8). Transfer of a Named User License from 1 individual to another only if the assigned individual (a) is on vacation; (b) is absent due to sickness; (c) has their employment terminated; (d) is moved into a new job function which no longer requires them to Use any Packages; or (e) is subject to a condition otherwise agreed by SAP (§5.1.1). Broader Exhibit 2 types include the rights granted under named narrower types (inclusive hierarchy). Customers with June 2014 and earlier types (mySAP.com Users, SAP Business Suite Users, SAP ERP Users, Individual SAP solutions Users, SAP Application Users, SAP BA&T Users) may license additional quantities of the same types and are not permitted to license SAP Named Users within their existing license contract (§5.1.2–5.1.3). SAP Limited Professional User is referenced in Exhibit 3 Embedded Analytics but is not defined in Exhibit 2 of v.4-2026. All individuals using SAP Business One, also through reporting tools, require an SAP Business One license (Exhibit 6).
- Floors / minimums
- No numeric Named User floor in Exhibit 2. SAP Business One (Exhibit 6): minimum 1 SAP Business One Starter Package User or 1 SAP Business One Professional User (SUR spelling: Starterpackage / Profesional). Maximum 5 for the sum of SAP Business One Starter Package Users; above that, all must be licensed as SAP Business One Professional or Limited Professional User. Starter Package User cannot be combined with other Business One user types except Indirect Access by non-employees.
