- Educational (core-based licensing models; does not supersede Product Terms): “The SQL Server Core Factor Table is no longer used to calculate the required number of core licenses needed for SQL Server 2016 and later versions. For earlier versions of SQL Server, the number of licenses required equals the number of physical cores on the server multiplied by the applicable core factor located in the SQL Server Core Factor Table.” No Core Factor applies to SQL Server 2016, 2022, or 2025. Current Product Terms Per Core counting uses Physical Cores / Virtual Cores and the four-License floors, not a Core Factor Table.
