- What is an Override License (VCF 9.1): override licenses apply only to assets that use capacity (ESX hosts, vSAN clusters) and not to hosts earlier than 9.0. If a VCF license is assigned to the vCenter instance, a VVF license cannot be assigned as an override; VCF and VCF Edge are equivalent for compatibility; vSAN and vSAN Edge licenses are not compatible. A host added without sufficient capacity runs in a 90-day evaluation.
