- Definition
- Device-Based Subscription License. Each Device SL permits use of the software provided with the subscription. Users of a Licensed Device: may activate and use the software provided on one OSE on the Licensed Device; or may install and use the software remotely from the Licensed Device on one OSE on a Network Server, or on Microsoft Azure. Customer must connect each OSE on which the software is installed to the Internet at least once every 90 days, or the functionality of the software may be affected. Licensed Device means a single physical hardware system to which a License is assigned; a hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate device.
- Counting rules
- Each user that accesses the Online Service must be assigned a User SL or access the Online Service only through a device that has been assigned a Device SL, unless specified otherwise in the Online Service-specific Terms. Reassignment not within 90 days except device out of service. Device Subscription Licenses do not support shared computer activation (Microsoft 365 Apps licensing guidance, educational). Device SL exists only for SKUs Microsoft labels (Device SL), not for every suite.
- Floors / minimums
- Apps for enterprise Device SL: one OSE; internet at least once every 90 days. Enrollment for Education Solutions: Apps for enterprise Device SLs may not exceed Apps for enterprise User SLs (Apps licensing guidance, educational). Intune Plan 1 for Devices: devices not affiliated with specific users; no user-affinity features.
