- Definition
- The NetScaler Gateway universal license limits the number of concurrent user sessions to the number of licenses purchased. If you purchase 100 licenses, you can have 100 concurrent sessions at any time. If you purchase a Standard edition license, you can have 500 concurrent sessions at any time. When a user ends a session, that license is released for the next user. A user who logs on to NetScaler Gateway from more than one computer occupies a license for each session. NetScaler Gateway requires a Platform license for ICA Proxy to Virtual Apps/Desktops or StoreFront; Universal licenses are required for VPN/SmartAccess and other advanced features.
- Counting rules
- Count concurrent user sessions against purchased Universal licenses. Platform license alone allows unlimited ICA Proxy connections to published apps/desktops and does not consume Universal licenses for Citrix Receiver-style ICA Proxy use cases. Universal licenses received as a component of another product are limited to use on any Citrix Gateway appliance (physical or virtual) in support of that product environment. The Gateway service GB/user/month bandwidth quota is a separate measure. No Universal-to-UHMC conversion is published.

- Concurrent session cap equals licenses purchased (example: 100 licenses = 100 concurrent sessions). Standard edition license: 500 concurrent sessions. No separate purchase-floor quantity named beyond the purchased quantity.
